You will find numerous products out there to help you quit smoking. These products have probably worked for some folks, but a lot of people have tried everything and just can’t stop. Why not give hypnosis a try? Hypnosis can be a very effective way to quit smoking. Science Magazine states that “hypnosis is the most effective way to quit smoking cigarettes or chewing tobacco”. Some research has shown that the success rate is over 66%.

How does hypnosis work? Hypnosis works by persuading the subconscious. You can consciously try to tell yourself not to smoke, but it’s your subconscious mind that is constantly instructing you to smoke. Your subconscious is doing this because it’s so used to the system of your smoking. It’s your subconscious mind that wakes you up every morning; that instructs you to breathe, to sleep, and eat. When smoking has become such a crucial part of your life, then your subconscious starts to incorporate smoking in your daily functions and habits in life.

This is where hypnosis comes in. Hypnosis generates profound relaxation in which the subconscious receives suggestions. The suggestions must be in accord with your values and goals, or you won’t follow them, so you and the hypnotist form an alliance. Hypnosis helps you establish motivation and confidence. You will build a powerful desire to stop smoking. Hypnosis helps to reprogram your mind with healthier choices. You will even be able to imagine the poisons of smoking leaving your body.

Think of the money you will save because you won’t buy cigarettes (approximately $1800 per year for a pack a day habit), the increased energy and health you’ll feel, the sense of wonderful achievement you’ll have, and most meaningful the many years you will add on your life when you quit.

A really affordable place I found that offers hypnosis to quit smoking is the Brigham Hypnosis Center in Utah. In this center the hypnotherapy takes three sessions. The first lasts an hour and a half and really prepares you to quit smoking by the next session, in a couple of days. In the second session you will smoke your last cigarette before the session. That session lasts an hour, and you’ll learn to do self-hypnosis so that you will have a powerful tool when you are triggered. The final session is a reinforcement session a couple of days later (these are usually held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday). Hypnosis is a fun way to stop tobacco, so check it out!
